Anatomy of a Dream

Towards the end of every day
The incipient black creeps though the sky
Glowing moon and glittering stars
The accompaniments of it

It is when the trees below
Stop swaying
And the birds within
Stop chirping
And the metropolis in the backdrop
Grows austere
For the little windows of lights
Has ceased to embroider the buildings

Dispersing the discernible
The night does
Developed nebulous forms
Some things have
And there comes a time
When I lay down under the sky
And my eyelids close

Rest will the eyes
But the mind wouldn’t
And there comes a time
When dreams happen
Reality they contravene
But not always

I dream I dream
Of things so great
Of things so sweet
That sometimes
They are just ephemeral
Just out of my reach
But dreams know no limit

I dream I dream
Of things so great
Of things so sweet
That sometimes
I just wish they would carry on forever
But wake up I always do
And it hurts to realise that they are just dreams
Never to be fulfilled

Rest will the eyes
But the mind wouldn’t
And there comes a time
When dreams happen
Reality they contravene
But not always

I dream I dream
Of things so beautiful
Of things so close
Of things so real
That sometimes
I smile in my sleep

I dream I dream
Of things so beautiful
Of things so close
Of things so real
That sometimes
I just wish they would carry on forever
But wake up I always do
And realise that
Some dreams are not dreams
They are hopes
Always ready to be fulfilled

I know I know
Some of my dreams
Are mere moments of escapism
But some of my dreams
Have led me to greater things
Fulfilling some of them have I done
And I know I know
That I would fulfill more of them soon

When the night surrenders to the day
My eyelids open
And I step up to fulfill some of my dreams
Because I know I know
Some dreams are not dreams
They are hopes
They are the reality
Just waiting to be fulfilled
